People that kill a partner after years of domestic abuse and violence, will now be treated more leniently under new reforms - named Sally's Law, following the case of Sally Challen.
I am glad there is help for women who feel like they have no choice but to kill because of domestic violence. Most people do not understand coercion and how intimidating and dehumanizing it is.
Hugely powerful piece, Sharon. Thank you for writing it. It so eloquently highlights the uncomfortable reality that many abused women fall into. Either we cast women who kill their abuser into the abyss, ready to forget their lives realities, or instead listen and learn; prevent loss of life and stop abuse. I know which I’d have preferred.
