Something different!

You probably all know by now, how passionate I am about my work - at NCDV and within my own Community Interest Company.

Part of my day job at NCDV is to fundraise. NCDV is a not for profit Community Interest Company. Because we are a CIC, we are not able to apply to all the big funding streams i.e. Children in Need, Comic Relief, National Lottery.

A non-molestation injunction can cost upwards of £2,000 in the UK, depending where you live. There are an awful lot of people who are not eligible for legal aid funding, and can not afford a solicitor. NCDV help these people free of charge and support them in getting non-molestation injunctions.

A non-molestation injunction ultimately saved my life when I was experiencing domestic violence! It gave me the breathing space to think straight. It enabled me to be safe and move on with my life. It enabled me to look after my daughter without criticism. To start to help her move on from the things she witnessed, which no child should ever have to witness. It really did save me. In ways I can not even explain. And that is why the work at NCDV is so important to me.

In 2024 NCDV took 101,749 referrals. We helped 4,484 people who were not eligible for legal aid funding. It is a lot isn’t it? And that is just the people that are coming to NCDV!

Demand for NCDV’s services are outstripping supply! The NCDV Pro Bono Team are working to capacity. So I am raising money to grow and strengthen the Pro Bono service, so that they are able to help more and more people be safe and be able to move on with their lives - just like I did!
